Degree conferment to representative, etc. of graduates of the graduate school in Chunma Art Center Chamber Hall on the 22nd Colleges and graduate school produced 69 doctoral students, 366 master’s students, and 878 bachelor’s students. [August 22, 2023] YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) held “2022 Second-Semester Degree Conferment Ceremony” on the 22nd. In the degree conferment ceremony held in YU Chunma Art Center Chamber Hall, President CHOI Oe-chool of YU and President PARK Yong-wan of Graduate School conferred degrees to and congratulated the representatives of masters’ students and all doctoral students of the graduate schools. Degree pendants and diplomas were conferred for colleges and seven special graduate schools such as Graduate School of Environmental Health, Graduate School of Culture and Art Design, Graduate School of Sports Science, Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Engineering, and Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul. On that day, 878 bachelors, 366 masters, and 69 doctors were produced by YU. Among them, 191 foreigner students (85 bachelors, 83 masters, and 23 doctors) received degrees and 116 faculty graduates received double degree with double majors. President CHOI Oe-chool made a congratulatory message in the graduation ceremony, “The honorable degrees you received are the result of your hard work and dedication to realize your goals. I believe that YU graduates have grown into true intellectuals of this era to lead global innovation and pursue practical values of global co-prosperity. Korea is the only country that has risen to the ranks of advanced countries in aid through a middle-income country from an underdeveloped country receiving aid. Such situation ask us new living. I hope that YU graduates will create Korea with the dignity of an advanced country, and further grow into talented people to contribute for the common prosperity of the global village.”

A part of “Program for proper understanding of Dokdo’s history” of University Innovation Support Project Since implementation in 2008, 14th this year Conducted by YU’s Dokdo Research Institute, pre-training on Dokdo’s geographical characteristics and natural ecosystem [August 21, 2023] “Dokdo is our land! If you are a citizen of the Republic of Korea, shouldn’t you step on our land Dokdo?” On the 19th, 40 students from YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) visited Dokdo and strengthened their will to protect Dokdo. This Dokdo exploration was conducted as a part of “Program for proper understanding of Dokdo’s history” implemented by University Innovation Support Project. The purpose is to establish a correct view of history and importance of defending the homeland in students. This is the 14th implementation since the first implementation of YU’s Program for proper understanding of Dokdo’s history in 2008. This program has been implemented every year except for 2020 and 2021, when COVID 19 spread. Students who participated in this program learned about Dokdo and Ulleungdo's geography, natural ecosystem, and Dokdo's historical significance through preliminary teaching on Dokdo and Ulleungdo prior to the exploration. The teaching was hosted by YU’s Dokdo Research Institute. <YU students who visited Dokdo are showing a performance on entering Dokdo> Starting on the 18th, the students who participated in the exploration program for 2 nights and 3 days organized a total of 8 teams of 5 people, established plans to visit Ulleungdo and Dokdo, and prepared a performance to enter Dokdo. They plan to promote social media by producing short video contents containing Dokdo exploration activities. Especially, at the Dokdo Museum visited on the third day of the tour, curator KIM Gyeong-do, who graduated from YU Department of Cultural Anthropology, explained the background of Dokdo Museum and historical facts of Dokdo, and received a great response from the students. KIM Ha-rin (3rd year, Department of Police Administration), who participated in the exploration, said, “I participated because I wanted to learn more about Dokdo rather than learning in the textbooks and to experience it directly. I will never forget the panoramic view of Ulleungdo and Dokdo from the observatory and the experience of stepping on the land directly. I really want to visit Dokdo, our land, with her family and friends.” LIM Hyun-soo (4th year of Business Administration) said, “This is my second visit to Dokdo after a family trip. Before visiting Dokdo, I was taught about Dokdo and prepared a Dokdo entrance performance with other students. It is felt different from other trips. I think I'll never forget the thrill of stepping on the land of Dokdo. I’d like to encourage other students to participate in Dokdo Exploration Program before graduation.” HAN Yong-hee, YU Dean of Student Affairs planned Dokdo exploration this time said, “We have been implementing the Dokdo exploration program every year to foster students’ correct historical awareness and affection for our land Dokdo. “2023 Future Mobility Mid-to-long-term Education Program” and “Future Mobility Self-Work Contest” Hosted by YU Engineering Education Innovation Center with participation of 22 teams from 7 domestic universities [August 22, 2023] YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) held “2023 Future Mobility Mid-to-long-term Education Program” and “Future Mobility Self-Work Contest” The contest was hosted by YU Innovation Center for Engineering Education on the urban self-driving platform of YU Gyeongsan Campus. In the contest, 137 students from YU, Kyungpook National University, Kumoh University of Technology, Daegu University, Andong University, Korea National University of Transportation, and Halla University participated. This event consists a mid-to-long-term teaching program and a contest focused in autonomous driving technology for students interested in the field of future transportation, participants received online lectures and team-specific mentorship from May 22nd this year, and the contest was held for two days from August 17th to 18th. The contest is the 2nd contest that attempted to switch from the internal combustion engine-centered self-made car production contest of the International University Student Self-Work Car Contest started at YU in 1996 to the autonomous driving field of the future of electric vehicles. 22 teams from 7 universities implemented self-driving functions in a 1/5 scale electric car for children and drove on an urban self-driving track. This competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), and Gyeongsangbuk-do & Gyeongsan-si and the professors specializing in autonomous driving guided the education focused in autonomous driving programming including artificial intelligence and GPS. KANG Dong-jin, director of YU Engineering Education Innovation Center hosted the contest and said, “The performance of this year's participating teams was far superior to last year's competition and we could, therefore, see the leveling up of the participating teams. It became a great opportunity to cultivate talented people for future transportation.” Meanwhile, in the contest, Team 3 from Halla University came in first place, Jeyukdeopbap Team from Daegu University and AIS Team won the YU College of Engineering Prize, My Eve Team from YU and Team 5 from Halla University received the YU Machinery IT College Dean Prize, Youngcha Youngcha Team from YU and Team 6 from Halla University won the YU Engineering Education Innovation Center Director Prize.

Major in Architectural Design in YU Faculty of Architecture and Department of Architectural Design in General Graduate School Recognition of international competence for 150 participants from 7 countries, including Korea, China, and the Philippines [August 24, 2023] < Professors and students of YU Faculty of Architecture attending 2023 AIDIA (Asia Interior Design Institute Association)> Graduate school students from Major in Architectural Design in YU Faculty of Architecture and Department of Architectural Design received many prizes including grand prize in International Student Workshop of 2023 AIDIA (Asia Interior Design Institute Association). International Student Workshop of 2023 AIDIA was held for the 3rd time from July 16th to 21st in Hanyang University. A total of 150 students, tutors, and professors from seven countries, including Korea, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Colombia, Laos, and Malaysia, participated in various cultural programs and design work. With the theme of “Mining Seongsu,” they enjoyed a new perspective on Seongsu-dong, Seoul, and explored the various senses of Seongsu's yesterday and today by exploring three routes in Seongsu-dong with the tutor in charge. At this workshop, student YANG Mi-jin (Department of Architectural Design, Graduate School, left in the photo above) received the first prize, the AIDIA (Asia Interior Design Institute Association) President Prize. The characteristics of Seongsu-dong were analyzed as the past and present, the gap between the rich and the poor, and the contrast between abandoned and used spaces and were set as a concept based on the factory which is an element of Seongsu-dong. In order to connect the two less frequently used alleys with the main road, a sculpture with the concept of a traditional Korean knot was installed to activate the alley connection and remodeling and exterior space design were applied so that the rice cake shop, an existing local store on the selected site, could be naturally mixed with the influx of stores. YANG Mi-jin said, “Working with foreign students from various countries and friends from other schools, I was able to accumulate new experiences and feel an expanded vision for my future career." Park Chan-hee (Department of Architectural Design, General Graduate School) focused in the connection between nature and the city, centered on Seoul Forest, and won the KIID (Korea Institute of Interior Design) Chairman Prize. She made her work in 4 sequences consisting of Café Street - Seoul Forest - the plaza in Seoul Forest - the street corner leading from Seoul Forest to the downtown. KIM Su-hyeon majoring in architectural design in YU Department of Architecture won the Sigongtech Chairman Award by designing spaces and furniture that could meet the needs of both locals and travelers on the route of Seongsu-dong under the theme of sustainability. Professor KIM So-hee of YU Department of Architecture said, “Students were able to gain new approaches and inspiration by sharing stories about the classes and project progress at the school.” Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2000, AIDIA currently has 7 countries, including Korea, China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore and AIDIA Federation publishes general meetings, international student workshops, and AIDIA journals, and continues design exchanges centering on professors and students majoring in Asian countries.

Former President KIM Yong served as the 12th President of World Bank.He led World Bank Group for 6 years and 7 months, from July 2012 to February 2019, and took the lead in ending global poverty, including development of developing countries and improvement of healthcare environment. World Bank was established in 1945 with the goal of eradicating global poverty and developing economies. It is one of the three major international economic organizations such as International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Trade Organization (WTO). Former President KIM Yong attended the conferment ceremony for an honorary doctorate on the 24th and said, “I hope that today’s conferment ceremony will be the first step towards achieving the goal of eradicating global poverty and achieving prosperity together with YU. I hope to do more for human society with YU in the future.” After conferring the honorary doctorate, Former President KIM Yong gave a special lecture to foreign students and faculty members at YU Park Chung-hee Graduate School of Saemaul on the subject of “Faith in Things Unseen.” In his special lecture, Former President KIM Yong gently told about his childhood, his growth process, and his 40-year global health activities. I hope that the honorary doctorate that Former President KIM Yong received today will serve as a great foundation for fostering global talent as well as individual glory.” <Commemorative tree planting for conferment of an honorary doctorate by Former President KIM Yong of World Bank> Former President KIM is evaluated to have prepared an innovative financial system to combat hunger in developing countries, built social infrastructure, and prevented global epidemics, as well as respond to global challenges such as climate change and refugee issues during his tenure. He greatly expanded the activities of the International Development Association (IDA), a development fund for developing countries under World Bank Group and dramatically increased the capital of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and International Finance Corporation (IFC). The "Pandemic Emergency Finance Facility (PEF)” prepared during his tenure contributed greatly in prevention of the spread of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2018 and he implemented the ‘Famine Action Mechanism’, a hunger detection and prevention system using artificial intelligence. Former President KIM has been at the forefront of solving the problems of developing countries, such as poverty, disease, and social systems, not only during his tenure at World Bank but throughout his entire life. Former President KIM also directly established an international NGO (non-governmental organization) to support health and medical care in developing countries. He established “Partners in Health” in 1987 and worked for developing countries such as Haiti, Peru, and Rwanda. Especially, PIH has made a great achievements in fighting tuberculosis in poor countries. World Health Organization (WHO) has also applied the PIH model to create community-based health care programs. Since leaving from World Bank in 2019, Former President KIM has served as Vice-Chairman of Global Infrastructure Partners and has been constantly carrying out global social contribution activities, such as leading the development of social infrastructure in developing countries. Former President KIM was also active as a scholar and educator. He received his Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Anthropology degrees from Harvard University, served as a professor at Harvard University, and held positions such as Chairman of the Department of International Health and Society at the School of Medicine and Director of the Center for Health and Human Rights at the Graduate School of Health. In 2009, he became the first Asian-American president of Dartmouth College, one of the Ivy League universities. The conferment of an honorary doctorate on Former President KIM Yong is noteworthy because his degree is awarded by YU. In recent one year, three national leaders at YU have received honorary doctorates in international development studies one after another. Prior to Former President KIM Yong, David M. Beasley, Secretary General of the United Nations World Food Program (UN WFP) and Yim Chhay Ly, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, received honorary doctorates in international development from YU. Their common point is that they have taken the lead in overcoming poverty in developing countries and ending hunger worldwide as the leaders of international organizations or countries. It is in line with the educational goal of cultivating talented people to contribute in prosperity of human society pursued by YU. The fact that YU is the birthplace of “Saemaul Studies,” which is internationally recognized as a native Korean study, is also the reason why they receive degrees from YU. This is because “Saemaul Studies” systematizes Saemaul Undong, which was Korea’s poverty alleviation policy, into an academic discipline and Saemaul Undong is currently being introduced as a poverty alleviation model in developing countries around the world. YU, World Bank, and UN WFP, etc. have been working in their respective fields with the common goal of overcoming global poverty and co-prosperity of human society. YU has been accumulating educational and research performances and know-how for more than 40 years until now. YU established research institutions and professional education and training centers as well as faculty and graduate school courses such as Park Chung-hee Saemaul Institution, Park Chung-hee Graduate School of Saemaul, International Development & Cooperation Center, and Department of Saemaul International Development, academized Saemaul Undong as a sector of studies, and has been implementing various projects in Saemaul International Development area. Especially, Park Chung-hee Graduate School of Saemaul, established in 2011 to nurture Saemaul leaders in developing countries, has enrolled 853 students from 73 countries around the world and, among them, 725 persons received a master's degree in Saemaul Studies and are active as major policy makers, international development experts, and Saemaul Undong leaders in central government agencies, public institutions, and international development NGOs. Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform secures an additional KRW 4.8 billion from the government… 2nd year KRW 75.1 billion project promotion Substantial collaboration between the government, academia, and industry has been achieved to participate in key areas such as future car conversion parts YU leads “future car conversion parts business” as a central university [July 25, 2023] <Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform Future Car Conversion Parts Project Group Performance Sharing Festa (March 2023 Daegu Inter-Burgo Hotel)> The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform, which is promoting “Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project” (hereinafter referred to as the “RIS Project”), received the highest grade of “Excellent (A)” in the first year annual evaluation. YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) is leading the project as a central university in the RIS project promoted by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform. The RIS project is a project that supports local governments, universities, and regional innovation institutions to establish a regional innovation platform to establish a mid- to long-term development plan tailored to industrial demand, select key fields according to development goals, and promote university education and regional industry innovation in connection with this. Daegu-si, Gyeongbuk-do, 23 universities including Kyungpook National University and YU, 14 regional innovation agencies and research institutions, and more than 200 regional companies participate in the project. Reorganization of education system and cooperation with regional innovation agencies will be done focused in core areas with investment of KRW 331.2 billion for five years in maximum. As the result of evaluating the performance of the first year (2022) implementation performance and achievement indexes and of the implementation plan for next year, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform was evaluated to have classified the types of regional innovative talents, to have provided and operated various non-curricular programs according to convergence-major education course to meet demanders, and to have successfully implemented projects with substantial collaboration among participating universities, local governments, and enterprises in two major areas consisting of electronic information devices and future car conversion parts.The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform received an excellent grade in the first year project evaluation and secured an additional KRW 4.8 billion from the government, and in the second year of this year, it will invest KRW 75.1 billion, including government funds and subsidies from local governments, to promote the project. As a central university in the RIS project, YU is in charge of the Future Car Conversion Parts Project Group. With the goal of future car transformation innovation and local settlement of young people, YU implements university education innovation such as △ Future car R&D collaboration △ Future car ecosystem creation △ Fostering global future car parts companies, along with carrying out tasks in each core field △Future car convergence major and new track △ University education innovation including site, sharing, and metabus operation. As a result of the first year evaluation, the project composition to create a virtuous cycle ecosystem of talent cultivation-technology development-corporate support for Future Car Conversion Parts Project Group is systematic and the collaboration system centered on universities-research institutes-corporate support organizations (Gyeongbuk Technopark, etc.)-local companies. In addition, it was also evaluated to be good that a meta-campus was constructed to revitalize a shared university with 15 universities in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region so as to allow students in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region to complete their major in future car convergence in the respect that a challenging educational innovation model was developed. Volunteer service and cultural exchange activities with Uzbekistan and Vietnam Opportunity to develop basic knowledge as global citizens by carrying out global social contribution activities Local governments and universities collaborate to develop local youth’s global capabilities [July 28, 2023] <YU Global Leaders College Overseas Volunteer Corps’ Activities in Uzbekistan> YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) students embarked on global social contribution activities during their vacation.They were dispatched to Uzbekistan and Vietnam to engage in volunteer work and cultural exchange activities. Twenty students from YU Global Leaders College went to Uzbekistan volunteer work from the 3rd to the 13th. YU Global Leaders College was established this year to respond to Korea's global status and the needs of the international community. <Starting Ceremony for Global Leaders College Overseas Volunteer Corps> Global Leaders College Overseas Volunteer Corps visited kindergartens, welfare facilities for the disabled, and nursing homes in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and provided educational volunteer activities such as making fans and painting. During the dispatch period, they visited National University of Samarakant and engaged in cultural exchange activities with local students through Korean language classes, making Korean food, and learning traditional dances. Students from both universities also held an environmental cleanup campaign near the campus. <YU Global Leaders College Overseas Volunteer Corps’ Activities in Uzbekistan> Park Ye-ji (3rd year Saemaul International Development Department) who went to Uzbekistan volunteer work said, “It was my second overseas volunteer activity following Vietnam volunteer work in my sophomore year. In Uzbekistan, local kindergarten children and teachers liked it and I was, therefore, able to do volunteer work happily. I think it's good that I could develop my major's competencies and gained various experiences through overseas volunteer activities.” From the 10th to the 18th, YU Social Contribution Group dispatched students to Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province in Vietnam to carry out volunteer activities. Last year, YU launched a social contribution group consisting of students and faculty members as part of achieving a new vision of 'a creative innovation university that contributes to the prosperity of human society' and has been continuously carrying out volunteer activities both inside and outside the campus. <Students from Gyeongsan-si and 7 local universities, including YU, carried out social contribution activities in Vietnam> Especially, these volunteer activities in Vietnam are meaningful in the respect that the local government and local youth planned and promoted the volunteer activity together. Thirty students from Gyeongsan City and 7 local universities, including YU, joined together. They carried out educational volunteer activities and local meal support activities at a local orphanage in Vietnam and also conducted cultural exchanges and workshops with students from Lak Hong University in Dong Nai Province. Hosted by YU Department of Global Education, “Learning Korea” for 7 days, participated by the youth from 3 countries including China and Japan Equipped with systematic programs related to Korean language and culture education Annual exchanges with overseas friendship sister cities in Gyeongsangbuk-do [July 31, 2023] YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) started “Global Youth Culture Experience Camp” for overseas youth to “Promoting Korea.” This camp was held from July 17th to 23rd with invitation of university students and high school students from overseas friendship sister cities by Gyeongsangbuk-do and was supervised by YU Department of Global Education, which has a systematic program for Korean language and culture education. <2023 Global Youth Culture Experience Camp hosted by YU Department of Global Education (Korean traditional coming-of-age ceremony experience)> About 50 teenagers from Ningxia, Shaanxi, Jilin, Henan, and Hunan Provinces in China, Hiroshima in Japan, and West Java in Indonesia participated in the camp. While living in the YU dormitory, they learned Korean history in Gyeongju and Andong, and experienced Korean modern culture by visiting Gumi Samsung Electronics Smart City, Cheongdo Wine Tunnel, and Pohang Homigot. In addition, they participated in various cultural experiences held at YU, such as Korean language project classes, K-pop dance learning, traditional coming-of-age ceremonies, and Korean traditional music performances, showing great response. Bintang Achmad Qhaissan (17), who visited Korea for the first time from West Java, Indonesia for this project, said, “The whole experience of traveling to Gyeongsangbuk-do with YU was new. I was very happy to meet foreign friends at the global camp.” Meng Jingyue (20), from Hunan, China said, “The experience of being able to directly participate in a traditional coming-of-age ceremony wearing a hanbok was truly special. This camp is not the end, I will take this memory with me for a better start and future.” Professor LEE Mi-hyang, head of the Department of Global Education at YU, who oversaw this camp, said, “Words and life are one. When you experience someone's life firsthand, you want to know what they say and how they live. I believe that this camp will serve as a priming water to introduce Korea and YU to young people who are still unfamiliar with Korea.”

Jeju Olle Trail for 7 days and 6 nights from the 17th, 100km including Hallasan Yeongsil Trekking Course Improvement of leadership and self-confidence and accumulation of valuable experiences in school days Personality education, such as special lectures on “challenging spirit” by celebrities and team building programs, etc. [July 20, 2023] YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) students embarked on National Territorial Trekking of 100km on Jeju Island. <YU held an opening ceremony for “Walking into Jeju,” National Territorial Trekking> On the 17th, 50 YU students boarded a plane from Daegu Airport to Jeju Island. They arrived at Pyoseon Beach in Jeju Island and had an opening ceremony for National Territorial Trekking on Jeju Island. <National Territorial Trekking “Walking into Jeju” by YU (YU students are doing beach cleanup activities)> They walk a total of 100km, including a 95km section from Jeju Olle Trail Course 4 to Course 10 and a 5km trekking course in Hallasan Yeongsil, for 7 days and 6 nights.Excluding the travel itinerary from Daegu to Jeju Island, they walk an average of about 20 km per day. In the evening during the National Territorial Campaign, character education such as a special lecture on the spirit of challenge and a team building program will be conducted. Student NA Seung-hun (4th grade of Faculty of Physical Education), a participant of the National Territorial Trekking, said, “I participated in this National Territorial Trekking to develop confidence in myself and to gain valuable experiences from my school days. I overlap with the summer rainy season and the weather is very hot but I hope everyone will safely finish the race by cheering and encouraging one another.” President CHOI Oe-chool of YU visited Daegu Airport and encouraged the students right before the departure of the national trek. He (below photo) said, “I hope that it will be an opportunity for students to participate in the National Territorial Trekking, develop leadership, develop self-confidence, and plan their future. There may be times when it is difficult and exhausting in the middle of the hot weather, but with the spirit of Cheonma, let's finish the race without giving up and return to school healthy.”

President CHOI Oe-chool, special meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Guinea at the K-Ricebelt Ministerial Meeting Proposal of “Studying at YU for Guinea Civil Servants” to cultivate local “Saemaul experts” The Minister from Guinea, “Expectation of establishment and execution of national development policy with enhancement of capability of civil servants for Saemaul” [July 14, 2023] <President CHOI Oe-chool of YU (left) and Guinea Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Berry of Agriculture and Livestock are having a special meeting to cultivate Saemaul experts> A high-ranking official in Guinea, Africa, asked YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) for help in fostering “Saemaul experts.” On the 10th, Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry of Agriculture and Livestock of Guinea met President CHOI Oe-chool of YU and held a special meeting to cultivate Saemaul experts in Guinea. Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry visited Korea to attend the Africa K-Rice Belt Agriculture Ministers' Meeting held at the JW Marriott Hotel for three days from July 9th.Ministerial-level figures from eight African countries (Ghana, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Uganda, Cameroon, Kenya), the World Food Program (WFP) Secretary-General, and the African Development Bank (AfDB) vice-president attended the meeting to have discussions on global food security and cooperation in agriculture, etc. During this important short visit to Korea for 2 nights and 3 days, Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry of Agriculture and Livestock of Guinea met President CHOI Oe-chool of YU. It indicates how important it is to nurture Saemaul experts at the national level in Guinea. At the meeting with President Choi, Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry said, “Cooperation between the two countries is necessary in various fields for the development of Guinea.Above all, it is urgent to share the ways to overcome famine in Guinea and Korea's economic development experience. Especially, I hope that YU will play a role in cultivation of Saemaul experts who will be active in Guinea.”On the request by Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry, President CHOI suggested that Guinean civil servants study at YU in order to share Korea's development experience and transfer Saemaul Studies. President CHOI said, “South Korea is the only country that has been changed from the poorest country to an advanced country. One of the driving forces is the Saemaul Undong and Saemaul development.We will actively help Guinean public officials to study “Saemaul Studies” at YU. If public officials who formulate and promote national policies deepen their understanding of Saemaul Undong, they will be able to greatly contribute to the development of Guinea. We hope that Saemaul experts who studied at YU will be able to carry out global social contribution activities along with the development of Guinea.” Minister Mamudu Nanyangren Berry was also pleased with President CHOI’s proposal. Minister Berry said, “If Guinean civil servants with patriotism study at YU and build their competencies as Saemaul experts, they will be able to play a major role in Guinea's development. When I return to my home country, I will report the YU’s proposal to the President's Office. I will promptly take follow-up measures for mutual cooperation.” Following the meeting between President CHOI and the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Guinea, Guinea and YU plan to discuss specific details, such as the timing and scale of the training program to nurture Saemaul experts, soon.
